Elisapie Honoured with Canada Post Indigenous Leaders Stamp
She will be recognized alongside late environmentalist Josephine Mandamin and visual artist Christi Belcourt
Per Canada Post, the three will be celebrated "in recognition of their environmental advocacy and championing the rights and cultures of their Inuit, First Nations and Métis communities."
Elisapie will have her stamp unveiled alongside family friends in Montreal on June 13, with a ceremony held at the McCord Stewart Museum. All three stamps will then be available in Canada Post locations as of June 21.
With her 2023 album Inuktitut, Elisapie captured the 2024 JUNO Award for Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
