His films Dallas Buyers Club, Wild and The Young Victoria were each nominated for various Oscars and Golden Globes; Matthew McConaughey won the Oscar for Best Actor and Jared Leto won for Best Supporting Actor for their roles in Dallas Buyers Club.
Vallée is survived by his children Alex and Émile, both of whom are actors and appeared in their father's projects.
