Coldplay's Chris Martin Has Now Also Fallen into a Stage Hole in Melbourne
Shockingly, they were performing at a different venue in the Australian city than Olivia Rodrigo when she had a similar mishap last month
Last night (November 3), the band were playing their fourth and final concert at the stadium as part of their record-shattering Music of the Spheres tour. Fan-captured video footage sees the frontman walk backwards into a trap door in the thrust stage while reading fans' signs.
"That's uh, not planned," the singer said, getting back up after the audience collectively gasped [via the Guardian]. "Thank you for catching me, so much," he continued of the person who was standing below the trap door and was able to cushion his fall. "Thank you guys, holy shit."
The frontman continued, "That was nearly a YouTube moment. Well, it probably will be a YouTube moment, but not a great one. I don't know who caught me but thank you so much. Wow, I did not know that hole was there."
Martin was then checked over by a staff member, whom he told he was okay, before continuing on with the performance. Rodrigo made a similarly swift recovery when she fell into an open trap door while running across the stage during the final show of her GUTS world tour in Melbourne. Is this going to be the new "a dingo ate my baby"?
