Cave In/Old Man Gloom Bassist Caleb Scofield Killed in Car Crash

He was just 39

Scofield joined the heavy-minded Boston unit Cave In back in 1998, shortly before their debut album Until Your Heart Stops. Along with serving as the group's longtime bassist, Scofield also often provided vocals, as he remained a steady fixture in the band over the years.

Outside Cave In, Scofield also played with Old Man Gloom, the supergroup featuring Isis frontman Aaron Turner, Converge's Nate Newton and drummer Santos Montano.

In addition, Scofield fronted his own band Zozobra, a sludge metal power trio who released three album and also featured Montano. The project's most recent album was 2013's Savage Masters.

Scofield is survived by his wife and two children. A crowdfunding campaign has already been set up for his surviving relatives, and you can contribute to it over here.
